Water Service Interruption Along Midwest Boulevard
Necessary replacement of multiple water valves along Midwest Blvd. will force a temporary water shutoff on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. The shutoff will mostly affect customers on the east side of Midwest Blvd., between Reno Ave. and NE 10th St. (map attached). A few customers on the west side of Midwest Blvd. near Reno Ave., will also lose service temporarily. Water is expected to be restored on or before Friday, October 17, 2025, at 6 a.m.
Notifications are being distributed to homes, businesses and other customers that will be included in the temporary service interruption. Residents in the affected area are advised to do the following prior to the shutoff:
- Fill jugs or other clean containers for extra drinking water.
- Fill bathtubs, pots, buckets, etc., with water to add to toilet tanks or bowls, allowing customers to flush during the shutoff.
While water service is shut off in the affected area, Public Works will provide bottled (gallon) water upon request. Customers can call Public Works Administration at 405-739-1066 for assistance. Callers should be prepared to provide their account information, confirming they are within the affected area.
“Unfortunately, this service interruption is absolutely necessary,” states Paul Streets, Public Works Director. “Along with replacing aging infrastructure, this project improves water pressure for emergencies and gives us an opportunity to provide better water service for our customers, long term. Our ability to reroute water in this area will be greatly improved with the completion of this project.”
Streets went on to explain that Public Works has been planning this service interruption for some time. Though it’s never convenient to shut off water service to customers, City staff has done their best to pick a time that will minimize impact.
Affected customers who have questions and concerns are encouraged to call for assistance. Public Works Administration can be reached at 405-739-1066.
