Metal, Tire, & Appliance Recycling

The Midwest City Household Hazardous Waste Facility accepts automobile tires, appliances, and recyclable metal items.
Metal, tires, and appliances can be dropped off in the area outside of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
These items are not picked up in the quarterly bulk pickup and must be dropped off.
Outside Area Drop-Off Hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:30am-5pm
Gate Closed on Weekends.
Scrap Metal
Scrap metal items can be placed in the large black container bin outside of the facility. Items may NOT be removed from the bin.
Acceptable metal items that may be placed in the bin include:
- Water heaters
- Ovens & Microwaves
- Washers & Dryers
- Metal sheeting or siding
- Tire rims
- Grills
- Ladders
- Light fixtures
- Bed frames
- Outdoor Furniture
Non-acceptable metal items include chain link fencing or barbed wire due to brush that can be caught within it.
These items will not be picked up in the quarterly bulk pickup and must be dropped off.
Tires
Tires must be standard automobile size or smaller. Large semi or tractor sized tires are not allowed.
A majority of the tires must have the rims removed. Limited to 20 tires dropped off per week.

Appliances
Appliances with refrigerant or Freon must not be placed in the scrap metal bin. These appliances can be placed in the lot outside of the facility.
These items will not be picked up in the quarterly bulk pickup and must be dropped off.
Acceptable appliances with refrigerant include:
- Refrigerators or freezers
- AC window or portable units
- Water cooler dispensers
- Dehumidifiers
Appliances with refrigerant must have intact compressors and lines. Refrigerant must not be removed.
Appliances, parts, or accessories may not be removed.
Releasing refrigerant without intention to recover is prohibited by the EPA under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F).
