Results of Municipal Primary Election February 10

When polls closed on February 10, voters had selected a new Mayor and a new Ward 1 Councilmember to represent Midwest City. In unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board, Rick Rice was selected as the new Mayor of Midwest City and Brian Triger was elected as Ward 1 Councilmember. Because each candidate received more than 50% of the vote in their respective races, run-off elections will not be necessary.
No election was necessary for Wards 3 and 5. Newcomer Raymond Melton filed unopposed for Ward 3 and current Councilmember Sara Bana filed unopposed for Ward 5.
A Special City Council Meeting will be held on April 20, 2026, to swear in all four newly-elected members of the council. Additionally, the city council recently agreed to swear in the newly-elected Ward 1 Councilmember as soon as possible. This would fill the remainder of the term vacated by former Councilmember Susan Eads, meaning Brian Triger will be sworn in twice in less than two months. Info about the early swear-in date will be announced soon.
The mayoral election this year drew the most candidates, including former Councilmember Espaniola Bowen, current Ward 3 Councilmember Rita Maxwell and former Councilmember Rick Rice. Unofficial results show that Rick Rice collected 52% of the 3,354 votes cast in the race.
The Ward 1 council race included newcomers Brian Triger and Frank Young. Unofficial results show Triger garnered 61% of the 396 votes cast. This will be his first term on the council.
The Special City Council Meeting (Swear-In Ceremony) will be held on April 20 and will be open to the public. The meeting will be held in the City Hall Council Chamber at 100 N. Midwest Blvd. A start time for the meeting will be announced soon.
