MWCFD Engine 4
Tradition Meets Technology: Introducing the New Engine 4!
On Monday, February 2, the Midwest City Fire Department celebrated a powerful transition as we officially placed the new Engine 4 into service at Station 4!
The new engine was welcomed to service with a ceremony, steeped in fire service history, bridging the gap between our department's storied past and its bright future.
The Transfer of Water
The ceremony began with a symbolic Transfer of Water. As water was moved from the outgoing Engine 4 to the new apparatus, it represented the continuity of our mission: the transfer of readiness, experience, and the responsibility to protect the citizens of Midwest City. While the equipment changes, our commitment to life and property remains the same.
The "Push-In" Tradition
Dating back to the 1800s when horse-drawn equipment couldn't be backed into bays, firefighters had to manually push their engines into the station after a call. To honor those who served before us, our Green Shift crews, city leaders, and community members joined together to "push" the new Engine 4 into its new home.
Dedicated to Excellence
A special thank you to Assistant Chief Caleb Bryant, whose leadership was instrumental throughout the entire design, build, and acceptance process. His expertise ensures that this engine meets the highest safety and operational standards for our firefighters.
We also want to thank City Manager Tim Lyons, Fleet Supervisor Craig Davis, Mike Booth, and the Apparatus Design Committee for their tireless work in bringing this project to life.
Engine 4 is officially in service and ready to serve Midwest City!
