Fire Marshal Duane Helmberger brings over 15 years of fire service experience to his role at Midwest City Fire Department, where he has served since 2016. A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering and holding an MBA from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Marshal Helmberger oversees all aspects of fire prevention, code enforcement, and public education initiatives. His extensive credentials include Fire Officer IV certification, Executive Fire Officer designation, and numerous specialized certifications from the International Code Council. Beyond his official duties, he serves as an adjunct instructor at OSU-OKC, sharing his expertise in fire safety and inspection principles. Marshal Helmberger maintains active membership in multiple professional organizations and regularly participates in advanced training through the National Fire Academy, demonstrating his commitment to community safety and professional excellence.

Ashley Duncan

Ashley Duncan serves as Assistant Fire Marshal for the Midwest City Fire Department, specializing in comprehensive plan review and code enforcement for fire and life safety systems and structures. With a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University and a Master's in Executive Leadership from Liberty University, Ashley brings technical precision to commercial construction fire and life safety system evaluations. Her expertise includes detailed analysis of building suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and life safety components according to ICC codes and NFPA standards. Previously, as a Fire Protection Specialist, Ashley designed fire alarm and mass notification systems for both federal and commercial projects while working with design professionals, architects and licensed engineers. Furthermore, she has obtained multiple technical credentials during her tenure with the Midwest City Fire Department, including Fire Inspector III, Fire Plans Examiner, and Fire Investigation Technician.  She actively contributes to community safety through public education initiatives and maintains an active role as a board member of The Fire Marshals Association of Oklahoma. Her engineering background ensures Midwest City's commercial developments maintain the highest standards of fire and life safety compliance. 

Dan Blair

Assistant Fire Marshal Dan Blair began his fire service career in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction for 23 years, retiring as an Assistant Chief of Suppression. Following his military service, he joined the Midwest City Fire Department, where he currently serves as the department’s Public Education Specialist.

Assistant Fire Marshal Blair is deeply committed to community outreach and takes great pride in educating the public on fire safety and prevention in every way he can. His dedication to public service is reflected in both his professional experience and academic achievements.

He holds an associate’s degree in Fire Science and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration. His professional certifications include Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor III, and Fire Investigation Technician.

Joe Bennett

Joseph Bennett serves as a Fire Prevention Officer with the Midwest City Fire Department, where he applies his expertise in fire investigation and code enforcement to protect the community. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Bennett transitioned to emergency services following his military service, bringing valuable leadership experience to his fire service career. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Fire Investigation and an Associate in Applied Science in Fire Protection, complemented by extensive professional certifications including the prestigious Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator designation. Bennett is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Forensic Science to further enhance his investigative expertise. Dedicated to education and professional development, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at OSU-OKC and shares his knowledge as a guest lecturer on forensics and fire investigations for the universities fire academy. Joe is also an active member of the Oklahoma International Association of Arson Investigators (OKIAAI) Training Committee, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field and developing the next generation of fire service professionals.
