Learn not to burn

The Learn Not to Burn Preschool program is a practical pilot-tested and evaluated program to teach fire safety awareness and skills to children in a child care center.

A pretest and posttest evaluation of 4 of the lessons indicated a 37% increase in knowledge.

The Learn Not to Burn Preschool Program contains these unique features:

  • Identification of 8 key fire safety behaviors for children age 3-5.
  • Emphasis on specific fire safety knowledge and actions for children to learn.
  • Detailed lesson plans for each of the 8 fire safety behaviors.
  • Song lesson plans for each fire safety behavior to use with the accompanying cassette tape.
  • Additional learning/play activities to reinforce the lesson plans.
  • Illustrations that can be copied for posters, coloring, and other activities.
