Patrol

The Patrol Division falls under the Field Operations Bureau of the Midwest City Police Department.  The Patrol Division is headed by Field Operations Bureau Major Josh Herren.

The Field Operations Bureau has four patrol shifts, giving twenty-four hour service to the citizens of Midwest City.  In total, the four patrol shifts include over 50 uniformed officers, who directly serve the community each and every day, by responding to a wide array of calls for service and vehicular accidents.

Captains are assigned as Shift Watch Commanders and manage the patrol shifts.  These shifts may either be organized by hours of day or areas of responsibility at the discretion of the Bureau Commander. The Shift Watch Commander is responsible directly or indirectly for the supervision of all personnel subordinate to them during the shift.  The Watch Commander may assume command of field operations during the tour of duty but generally will supervise through Lieutenants.

Each shift is under the direction and control of supervising Lieutenants who receive direction from the Shift Watch Commander. The shift is organized as a sub-unit of the Field Operations Bureau and is broken down into smaller units or teams.

Patrol Officers strive to prevent and deter criminal activity, preserve the peace, protect life and property, apprehend criminals, recover lost and stolen property, respect and protect the Constitutional Rights of individuals, and enforce in a fair and impartial manner the ordinances of the City of Midwest City and the law of the State of Oklahoma and the United States of America.
