Midwest City is located on the eastern edge of the Oklahoma City metro and directly across the street from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma's largest single-site employer.  About one in five of our residents work in a technical trade or administrative position and an equal number are involved in construction or manufacturing. These factors have contributed to a business climate that has remained stable in most sectors despite the peaks and valleys sometimes seen in regional and national trends.

Next to Tinker AFB

Our close proximity to Tinker AFB creates a unique, recession resistant economy attracting shoppers from well beyond our boundaries. In fact, the latest U.S. Census QuickFacts statistics finds Midwest City with one of the Oklahoma City Metro's highest total of retail sales per capita:

Midwest City's Interstate 40 frontage is home to Town Center Plaza, the largest shopping center in eastern Oklahoma County.  The Uptown Shopping Center on SE 15th Street and the Town & Country Shopping Center on N Air Depot Boulevard also benefit greatly from Tinker's payroll.

But Midwest City is not just about Tinker Air Force Base. Alliance Midwest Hospital and Century Martial Arts Supply are two of the city's largest employers.  We are home to exciting, up and coming small businesses like the Roughtail Brewery, Crossfit Complete Fitness, The Underground Coffee and Wholly Guacamole! Mexican Restaurant.

Education

Education and training is paramount in this community and the Mid-Del Public Schools have a long history of success in academics.
