Midwest City Wastewater Plant EntryMidwest City's Wastewater Treatment Plant Personnel are a group of professional, state certified employees with high objectives. Those being, to contain, treat, and release back into the environment, wastewater that does not harm the aquatic life downstream from the facility. This facility has won several statewide awards and recognition, as well as an EPA Maintenance and Operation award. The employee dedication to the environment has led to our plant being recognized as one of the best in the State of Oklahoma.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant was put into service in July 1986. The plant treats domestic and industrial wastewater to the secondary treatment level by use of Rotating Biological Contractors (RBC's). The plant was designed for 12MGD, with a daily average flow of 5.8 MGD. The permit limitations are 20 mgl BOD and 30 mgl TSS. Midwest City is also required to perform bio monitoring criteria on our discharge by use of ceriodaphnia and fat head minnows. Midwest City performs its own bio monitoring in the laboratory located on the plant grounds. The Bio solids from the treatment plant are recycled back into the ground by use of injection equipment and has proven to be very beneficial to the farmers who have taken advantage of this program. Treated wastewater is discharged into a constructed Wetlands which has been permitted by the State of Oklahoma and the Corp. of Engineers, and will become an educational environmental resource for the local schools.
