The City of Midwest City Fleet Services
Receives Blue Seal of Excellence

Blue Seal of Excellence The City of Midwest City's Fleet Services has earned the Blue Seal of Excellence recognition from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). They are the first governmental automotive repair facility in the state of Oklahoma to receive this recognition. The Fleet operation is directed through the leadership of Fleet Services Superintendent Vaughn K. Sullivan and Fleet Services Supervisor Craig R. Davis. Fleet Services employs six technicians, three service attendants, two parts specialists, and two administrative staff to service the city's fleet.

To be eligible for this recognition, a company must have 75% of its repair technicians ASE certified. In addition, there must be a certified technician in each area of service offered. "Companies that have earned ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition have gone the extra mile to support their customers. Employing ASE-Certified technicians is an important element in their overall customer satisfaction program. We salute those shops who achieve this goal and thank them for helping promote quality automotive repair and service," says Ronal H. Weiner, ASE president.

"Through our incentive program, which ties ASE certifications to pay increases, we have been able to recruit, hire and retain a higher caliber of technician," says Craig R. Davis. Ten years ago fleet services had nine technicians that serviced a fleet inventory of six hundred and twenty-four. Today the fleet inventory is well over twelve hundred and the total number of technicians has dropped to six. Additionally, during this time the fleet budget remained virtually flat.

ASE was founded in 1972 as a nonprofit, independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. Technicians, engine machinists, and parts specialists have participated in ASE's program from all segments of the service and repair industry: car and truck dealerships, service stations, independent repair shops, collision repair facilities, maintenance garages, leasing and rental businesses, fleet repair facilities, franchised outlets, etc. Today more than 420,000 professionals are ASE certified.
