The Risk Watch® Program is an accident prevention program designed to address eight of the most common causes of accidental injuries and deaths.
The risk areas include: Motor Vehicle Safety, Fire and Burn Prevention, Choking, Suffocation and Strangulation Prevention, Poisoning Prevention, Falls Prevention, Firearms Injury Prevention, Bike and Pedestrian Safety and Water Safety.
The Midwest City Fire Dept. introduced Risk Watch® into four Mid-Del Schools, one private school and one independent pre-school in 2001-2002. Nearly 1000 children participated in the pre-test and post-test. The average increase of knowledge was over 25% at the completion of the program.
Establishing an alliance with community partners allows students to hear from experts in the safety areas. If you or someone you know would like to help teach students from
Pre-K to 8th grade about any of the safety areas or, you would like more information regarding the Risk Watch® Program, call Casey at 739-1356.
