members are elected officials from throughout the City.
The City is divided in six (6) wards with one council member
representing each ward. The Mayor is the seventh (7th) member
of the Council and acts as ex-officio council member-at-large. The Council
is responsible for appointing the City Manager, board members,
committee members, approving the budget and many
other various functions.
The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month
at 7:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall,
100 N. Midwest Boulevard.
The City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the administrative branch
of government. He executes the laws, administers the government of the City,
and is responsible to the Council. Some of his duties include appointing and
removing all City employees, initiating inquiries in response to citizen requests
or complaints, developing a budget designed to implement the policies
of the Council, and monitoring expenditures and revenues to
ensure fiscal responsibility.
